THOUSAND YARD INTER-PLANETARY WALK

This is the creation of Fire Chief Robert Perry and the 4th Grade Class at the nearby Clapp Elementary School. Starting next to the entrance to Lynch Park and a little north and opposite Hudson St on Arlington Road, this is a series of carefully placed markers that show the relative distances of the planets in our solar system from our Sun. A Red Ball marks the location of the Sun. And as you walk south along Arlington Road, you encounter stone markers for each of the planets. See Below.

The distances between each of these markers is on a scale equal to that of our solar system. And you get an impression of the true vastness of distances between our planet Earth and the distant outer planets. See if you can locate Pluto. Hint: You'll have to walk way past Old Foley Beach!!
